Duorum Vinhos is an innovative project in the Douro set up by two highly respected Portuguese wine producers, João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco. The project was established in 2007 with the aim of producing the highest quality wines based on a sustainable rural development policy, promoting good viticulture practices and respecting the region’s ecological and landscape values. They use grapes from vineyards located on slopes at different altitudes (150–500m), from some of the best terroir in the region and carefully selected varieties of indigenous vines. Red wine varieties are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Souzão, Tinta Francisca & Tinto Cão. For white wine, the varieties are Viosinho, Rabigato, Verdelho and Arinto. Properties include parcels in Quinta de Castelo Melhor and two old rented vineyards, both in Castelo Melhor near V. N. Foz Côa.
